Box of Broadcasts (BOB)

Members of the University  now have access to Box of Broadcasts (BOB), which allows you to record television or radio programmes due to be shown in the next seven days. For some channels, you can also retrieve programmes from the last week or watch items that have been recorded by other users of the service.

Westlaw International problems

There are currently problems accessing Westlaw International. Westlaw are aware of the problem and are working to remedy it as a matter of priority.  In the meantime, they have provided a temporary password to enable access. The password is 10217567QZFP. The password is case sensitive, so all the letters are upper case.

Elsevier launches SciVerse

SciVerse Hub  integrates ScienceDirect, Scopus and targeted web content from Scirus, Elsevier’s science-specific Internet search engine. SciVerse Hub beta allows for a single search across its integrated content with results ranked by relevancy and without duplication.

Archival access to The Nation

The Nation is America’s oldest weekly magazine and has published contributions from writers including James Baldwin, Hunter Thompson, Eleanor Roosevelt and Jean-Paul Sartre.  The Library has purchased the archive and we can now offer online access to the full text of the magazine beginning with its first issue in 1865 and continuing to the present day.

The Nation archive is fully searchable and is available through the Online Resources option on the Electronic Library webpages.

Science Direct and Scopus unavailable 28 August

Science Direct and Scopus will be unavailable due to scheduled maintenance for approximately 9 hours on Saturday, 28 August, between 12:30 pm and 9:30 pm, while they are upgrading their system.  We apologise for any inconvenience.

Web of Knowledge maintenance Sunday 22 August

Thomson Reuters will be performing maintenance to
the Web of Knowledge, EndNote Web and Researcher ID this coming Sunday,
22 August, 2010 beginning 14.00 GMT (9:00 AM EST). During this time,
there will be disruption of service and access to these products. We
apologise for any inconvenience this might cause.

Increased access to Taylor and Francis archives

T&F’s  online archives are  collected into subject areas and provide electronic access to journals from the very first issue. The Library has recently purchased the Anthropology & Archaeology subject archive, and also the Engineering, Computing and Technology archive. These include backfile access to titles such as Ethnos, Norwegian Archaeological Review and the International Journal of Control.

The individual journals can be accessed through the online journals A-Z via the Electronic Library. Taylor and Francis provide more information on the titles contained within the archives.

Wiley Interscience unavailable

The Wiley Interscience website will be unavailable from 9 a.m. on Saturday 7th August until 5 p.m. on Sunday 8th August while a new interface is being introduced.

Digimap unavailable August 3rd

Digimap Collections will be unavailable on Tuesday 3rd August 2010 from 10.00hrs until approximately 16.00hrs. This is to allow for a major hardware upgrade to take place.
